From Coconut Waste to Your Doorstep: The Re-Coco Story
Every product tells a story. Ours begins not in a factory, but at a coconut stall on a busy street in Indore.
The Problem Nobody Was Solving
India is one of the world's largest producers of coconuts. Millions are sold every day across markets, juice stalls, and temples — generating an enormous amount of waste. Coconut shells, husks and fibres pile up by the tonne, mostly dumped or burned, releasing harmful emissions into the air.
Meanwhile, gardeners across the country were paying premium prices for imported growing mediums, synthetic pots, and chemical fertilisers — products that damage the very soil they're meant to nourish.
We saw a disconnect that no one was bridging.
The Idea That Changed Everything
Founded by an engineer, an educator, and a social worker, Re-Coco Innovations was born from a simple but powerful question: What if we could turn this waste into something genuinely useful?
The answer was yes — and the result is what you hold in your hands today.
How We Make Our Products
Every Re-Coco product begins its journey as waste from coconut vendors in and around Indore. Here's how it goes from discard to doorstep:
Step 1 — Collection & Sun Drying
We collect coconut waste from local vendors who would otherwise have to pay to have it removed. The fibres and husks are then naturally sun-dried — no energy-intensive machinery, no chemicals.
Step 2 — Handcrafted by Artisans
Skilled local artisans and women entrepreneurs transform the processed coir into pots, grow sticks, coco peat, mats, and more. Every item is made by hand, supporting livelihoods in our community.
Step 3 — Sustainable Packaging & Delivery
Each product is packed carefully in plastic-free packaging and shipped pan-India. From the moment you order to the moment it arrives, our footprint is as light as possible.
What We Stand For
Re-Coco is more than a brand — it's a movement. Every product you buy directly supports:
- Waste reduction from coconut farming and vending
- Livelihoods for local MSMEs and women entrepreneurs
- Healthier soil and gardens across India
- A future with less plastic and more purpose
We're proud to be Startup India Recognised, MSME Registered, and Coir Board Approved — but what matters most to us is the impact we create, one product at a time.
Thank you for being part of the Re-Coco story.
